Body Intelligence: Transform Your Life Daily

WHEN I FIRST HEARD the term ‘body intelligence’ it didn’t immediately settle into my mind as making sense but intuitively I was completely intrigued. It is simple yet complex…. our bodies are always changing which means we have the opportunity to transform and grow by making it a point to observe the how we feel with different nutrients and aspects of the circle of life - not just nutrition from a scientific perspective like grams of protein but also our routines of how we move through the day. How we feel is everything.

We grow our body intelligence by observing and ritualizing the practice of honoring our system’s cues from the subtle to the very obvious. It’s an opportunity - an invitation - to feel transformation daily by self reflection and adjustment. Noticing moments at a time and connection to the movements or nutrients in the body that serve as information.

“Over time, you’ll start to recognize common food cues as well as which foods strengthen your focus and help you feel good…”
- Dr. Uma Naido

A key component to the Integrative Nutrition programs I offer are driven by body intelligence and developing self connection… once I completed my certification, I knew that this was the key to anything that comes next for intuitive eating and creative cooking. As well as the importance for very full and busy lives equally to those who may be experiencing elements of anxiety and depression in life. The closer we are with understanding how to best serve our bodies, the clearer our minds are and the more fulfilled we feel in general. It’s so hard to do anything - let alone do it well - when we feel terrible and foggy headed.

Our cultivated body intelligence can guide to find the nutrition and routines that are life transforming. Thank goodness for Hippocrates to have stated that ‘food is medicine’, paving the way for modern times to remember this fact.

Nutrition for transformation can elevate the way you live…

  • Improve digestion

  • boost energy

  • increase focus

  • reduce discomfort like bloat

When we stop and observe - even journal and jot notes on reflections - we can begin to see the correlations and patterns between what we eat, how we eat and how we spend our daily life activities directly with how we feel… making it more clear what decisions lead us to elevate and what brings us down.

Personally, and I hope this resonates, I like to ask myself… ‘how would that choice make me feel?’… to be clear, this does not mean that I make the choice that would feel the best each time, but rather can reinforce why I choose or do not choose a certain food, activity etc. If you’ve worked with me, you already know that I like to experience life fully. Even if that means mistakes are made and course correction is needed.

Life is one big experiment. And what is an experiment without more information.
