CranioSacral Therapy De-Mystified: Yes.. it's for You

CranioSacral Therapy often has a mystical quality. I receive a lot of questions about what it is, who should try it and what the benefits are to having this modality in your selfcare routine. And the answer is everyone should have CranioSacral in their life and the benefits are limitless.

To dive a little deeper into what it is, lets start with a little anatomy. The main CranioSacral system is from the cranium and brain tissue through the spinal column all the way to the sacrum. Generally speaking. The more mystical energetic healing power that can really make this session feel like pure magic is that you can access this system by way of meridians of the body from head to toe by gentle energetic readings by the practitioner. Meridians are lines of energy that run through the entire body - think about the nervous system or the cardiovascular system - like a tree has branches, our bodies are mirrors to the flow of energy and needs like a tree has for water and nourishment.

Within our cellular body, toxins and emotions get trapped within us. CranioSacral Therapy provides a gentle release within subtle tissues to clear these blockages for more optimal wellbeing in body and mind. By working with the fascial system - a relatively newly recognized system of the body mostly comprised of water - we are able to allow the body to activate it’s own innate ability to heal from within through gentle guidance. The fascial system is like plastic wrap that is over every muscle and organ of the body. It holds so much information and is a key component to any physical movement.

The sessions are very gentle and non-invasive which is ideal for those who have trauma touch sensitivities. A modality that can be beneficial from baby to the elderly generations. Some of the areas of client needs that it has been particularly helpful within my practice is with headaches, tightness in the jaw, face and neck as well as anxiety and depression.

Common FAQs

Who should try CST?

Everyone! Especially those who are very sensitive to touch and energies or are looking for a trauma sensitive modality.

Why add CST in my selfcare and wellness routine?

You will experience deep relaxation, trauma release, assistance with anxiety and depression as well as many other benefits to promote wellbeing and connection to self.

How often should I book a session?

I recommend a series since results are cumulative. Usually with at least one week in between sessions. Weekly, every two weeks and monthly are most common for best results depending on what works best for your lifestyle.

How will I feel after my session?

Generally clients feel very relaxed, restored and slightly euphoric. Lots of water and avoidance, if possible, of stressful situations is highly recommended.

What should I wear to my session?

Comfortable and loose fitting clothes. Sessions are done fully clothed unless part of an integrative massage. Always feel free to bring special bolsters, blankets as well as a bottle of water if these tools feel supportive for you. In cooler months, be sure to bring a hat or head wrap to stay warm and comfortable on your way home.

What does a CranioSacral with Energy Healing session include?

For the sessions, in addition to the CST aspect of the session, aromatherapy, reiki and sound therapy are also utilized. Each session is custom to each client.
